Maverick R-395
Atomic Alarm Clock Radio
w/ Weather Station
and Color Changing Display
|
|
The
Maverick R-395 Atomic Alarm Clock Radio
is
a digital AM/FM clock radio with modern styling that
displays the atomic time,
date, weekday, indoor/outdoor
temperature, and animated weather forecast
on
its backlit color-changing
LCD
display in
reference to the outdoor remote temperature.
|
|
|

|
|
The Maverick R-395
Atomic Alarm Clock Radio is medium in size at 7 inches
wide by 3-1/3 inches tall.
The
front
and left side of the clock casing are white while the
rest is semi-metallic silver in color. The LCD
panel is about 2-3/4 inches wide by 2 inches high.
Hour and minutes digits are quite large at almost an inch tall,
and seconds are about 1/3 of an inch.
|
|
|
|
The LCD backlight remains on continuously
once the unit is powered
by an external adaptor and is displayed in Red when the outdoor
temperature is higher or equal to 75.2°F, Amber for temperatures
between 50.2°F to 75°F, or Blue for outdoor temperatures lower
than or equal to 50.0°F. This
clock can be powered by 4-AA batteries or with its included
A/C adaptor and
is designed as a free-standing unit only and cannot be wall
mounted.
You'll appreciate
both the absolute accuracy and convenient features of the Maverick R-395
atomic clock radio. For the time format, you
can select 12-hour with PM, or 24-hour. Successful
reception of the time-synchronization radio signal is indicated by
a radio tower and waves icon above clock seconds. You can
select/change your continental U.S. time zone (EST, CST, MST, or
PST) at any time by means of a button
on the
left side of the clock. If you
live in an area that does not observe Daylight Saving Time
(Arizona and parts of Indiana) you can select
the DST/TIME ZONE and +/- buttons to disable DST.
The indoor and
outdoor temperature can be displayed in either
°F or °C, and both the
temperature unit and the 12-/24-hour time format can be changed at
any time during normal operation simply by pressing buttons on the
left side of the clock.
The measuring range
of the remote sensor is -58°F
to +158°F (-50°C to +70°C), the range of the indoor temperature
is -4°F
to +158°F (-20°C to +70°C).
You can use the
SLEEP function to let the radio lull you to sleep. The radio turns
off after your preselected time, which can be 10
to 120 minutes.
Prior to automatic turn-off, you can turn the radio off by
pressing SNOOZE or RADIO ON/OFF. The
R-395
has dual daily
alarms. You can choose to wake to the radio or to the
alarm with or without snooze. When the alarm is set to on, either
RADIO or a BEEP alarm icon
appear below the seconds on the
display. You can choose to use
the SNOOZE function or turn the alarm off when it sounds. Pressing
the SNOOZE bar silences the alarm for 5
minutes.
The R-395
clock operates on
AC120V,
60Hz house current and uses a 4-AA batterys (not included) as a
power backup during ac power outages or when unplugged. The
battery compartment is on the bottom of the clock. Expected
battery life depends on the frequency and duration of power
outages or unplugged periods. The radio in the
R-395
has an external wire
as an antenna.
Because of this clock's styling and
colors, it will fit in nicely with a variety of interior decors.
As mentioned above, the clock is designed for use as a
free-standing unit on a nightstand, table, dresser, shelf, or the
like. Almost anyone can appreciate and
use the Maverick R-395.
Naturally, this
feature filled digital atomic clock radio
makes an especially thoughtful and practical gift for family
members and friends alike. And because the backlit LCD and the
displayed digits are larger than that of many clocks, the
R-395
may work for people with
a mild degree of vision impairment.

Note:
This product has "atomic" clock functionality. Atomic, or
Radio Controlled clocks receive a radio signal to set themselves. Like
any radio receiver however, they may not be able to receive the signal
if they are in a building with a lot of steel in the structure, near
computers or other electrical equipment that may generate interference,
or if the weather is unsuitable. The signal they receive does not
propagate well during the day. That's the nature of the signal, not the
clock. These clocks are designed to catch the signal when they can,
generally in the middle of the night, calibrate themselves, and then run
quite accurately for days until they can catch another signal. When you
first put in the batteries, they will most likely not set themselves
until the middle of the night. That's normal. By morning, weather
permitting, it should be correct. Under less than ideal conditions, it
could take a few days. Daylight savings time changes may not be made the
first night if location and weather are not favorable.
